Today I’m writing from Washington, D.C., where I’ve been staying in a downtown apartment since the middle of October. As I finish packing before heading home tomorrow morning, I’d like to reflect briefly on everything I’ve done. This trip has been an incredible experience and I am very grateful for the past four weeks I’ve spent in Washington, D.C.
The highlights of my trip include:
Touring the Washington Monument and viewing Washington, D.C. from its highest vantage point.
Visiting many historic locations in downtown Washington, D.C., including the Jefferson Memorial , the Lincoln Memorial , The White House , and numerous others.
Touring the United States Capitol and exploring everything around it including the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court of the United States .
Exploring some of Washington, D.C.’s famous museums including the National Archives Museum , the National Museum of American History , the National Museum of Natural History , and the National Portrait Gallery .
Watching the Texas Rangers win their first World Series.
Visiting Arlington National Cemetery a couple days ago for Veterans Day.
This has been an action-packed trip and I’m exhausted, but I’m also extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to live in Washington, D.C. for the past month and to have made seeing some of the United States of America’s most famous locations part of my daily routine. I’ll always remember the days I spent here with a smile. I’m also grateful to be an American citizen and for the rights and freedoms I’m afforded. It’s inspiring for me to reflect on the nation’s past, the progress that has led to its present, and the small role I can play to help shape its future.
